The match between Czech Republic and Greece turned out to be an electrifying one as the match saw some real action within the first 10 minutes itself. The result was Czech Republic scoring the first 2 goals in the 10 minutes period. Czech Republic Petr Jiracek scored the first goal after 2 minutes the game started. The second goal was scored after 6 minutes and this time it was Vaclav Pilar who score the second goal which saw the Greece team looking at the Czech in astonishment.

Greece tried to return the goal in the first half, but was well defended by the Czech defenders and they made sure that the score remained 2-0 in the first half. If Greece has to make their progress towards the next round in Euro Cup 2012,then they desperately need to win their match against Russia later in this group. Greek defense was really weak and we could see many times the Greek defense being cut open and the Czech Republic making the most out of it.

After trying many of their chances Greece managed to strike back in the 53rd minute through Gekas, who came in as a substitute replacing Fotakis. There was also allegations regarding the lack of game quality from both the sides and the refereeing also came under severe criticism.

In another group match Poland and Russia were held in a 1-1 draw with Dzagoev scoring for Russia in the 37th minute and  Blaszczykowski scoring for Poland in the 57th minute.

In another major match of the Euro Cup 2012 championship, France and England ended up in a 1-1 draw which saw England really putting up a good show against France. England seems to be really serious about winning Euro Cup soccer 2012 and it was quite evident from their match against France. England’s Joleon Lescott opened the scoring for England after headed one cross from Steven Gerrard.

But France returned strongly and within 9 minutes, they gave it back to England after Samir Nasri equalized for France. After that the two teams tried their best to score a goal that could present a memorable victory, but both the teams had to be satisfied with a draw. Both England and France had to play under extreme difficult conditions as the extreme heat and humidity was really challenging.

In another match in the group Ukraine beat Sweden 2-1 to make a positive start to their Euro Cup 2012 campaign. Ukraine’s goals were scored by     Shevchenko in  the 55th and  61st minutes, where as Ibrahimovic scored the lone goal for Sweden in the 52nd minute. Overall the match was interesting and both teams had their share of moment, where ultimately Ukraine had the final laugh.

In the match between Italy and Spain in Group C, both the teams ended up 1-1 with Fábregas scoring for  Spain in the 64th minute and Di Natale scoring for Italy in the 60th minute. It was a match which was dominated by Spain as they had 66% of the ball possession  and had almost 18 goal attempts when compared to Italy’s 11 goal attempts. Even though Italy took the lead initially, Spain was quick enough to respond and score the equiliser in whithin 4 minutes.

The growing list of injuries in the England squad is really worrying captain Steven Gerrard prior to Euro Cup 2012 Championship. A good number of England players have gone out of the squad due to injuries and the latest one to join this line is Gary Cahill. Euro Cup 2012 soccer championship is just few days away and would be kicked off on 8th of June 2012.

Gary Cahill was injured during a friendly match with Belgium at Wembley on Saturday and Cahill had a strong collision with Belgium’s Joe Hart. Cahill is reported to be suffering from double fracture in the jaw, making his Euro Cup 2012 campaign to an end. Some of the other names in the England team that have been ruled out of the mega event are third-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy, Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard.

Even though England won the friendly match 1-0, these injuries have caused a major setback for England’s dream of winning the Euro Cup 2012 title and the England captain Gerrard is really angry with the way the players have been injured at a most crucial time. England cannot expect to field a full strength team in the championship and the team needs to work really hard to get on with the replacements.

England is all set to make their first appearance at Euro Cup 2012 on 11th of June and they would take on France at Donbass Arena stadium in Ukraine. England skipper really feels angry after losing its key player on behalf of the warm up matches and is really doubtful about the team’s performance in the tournament.

Diehard fans have also blamed the English Premier League (EPL) for the growing list of injured players in England’s national team.  With the absence of these players, England has to really sweat it out, if they are really serious about making a strong impact in the Euro Cup 2012 championship.  Otherwise, they would not be able to enjoy any memorable moments of this soccer extravaganza.
