Mexico Stuns Germany in World Cup 2018
In a dramatic match in Moscow, Mexico has brought the first surprise of the World Cup 2018 in Russia by beating the defending champions Germany 1-0. This was one of the best matches so far in 2018 world cup and both the team played a complete attacking game. Germany had the most posession of the ball, but still Mexico played it well to beat the defending champions by a margin of one goal.
Both the sides started in an attacking mode, and Germans were very much amazing in their passes and ball possessions. On the other hand, Mexico also showed amazing counter attacking skills that really cut past the German defense. Hirving Lozano scored the goal in the 35th minute and it was a great moment of celebrations for the Mexicans. Germany stepped up the gears and continuously attacked the Mexican goal area, but the Mexican defense and goal keeping kept the German attack away from scoring any goals.
Both the team had enough opportunities that were not converted and this victory has become on of the major upsets of world cup 2018. The likes of Timo Werner, Mesut Ozil, Toni Kroos, Mueller etc tried their best to save the game for Germany, but the Mexicans were too hesistant to give a goal. The Germans started getting frustrated towards the end which was evident from a series of fouls and yellow cards.
Mexico’s 39 year old Rafael Marquez created history when he replaced Guadardo. Rafael Marquez equaled the record of captaining a country at five World Cups which is quite an achievement. Anyhow the Mexican fans are pretty happy and will be looking to make a good impact at world cup 2018. The German team was very much dejected and will need to regroup and come back strong in the next matches.
